Our Commitment to Equality

At Harewood Nursery School, we want every child to feel safe, welcomed, and valued. We believe all children should have the same opportunities to learn, grow and succeed, and we work hard to make sure our nursery is a place where everyone is treated with fairness and respect.

We follow the Equality Act (2010), which protects people from discrimination based on things like:

  • race or ethnicity
  • disability
  • gender or gender identity
  • age
  • pregnancy and maternity
  • being married or in a civil partnership
  • religion or beliefs
  • sexual orientation

Everyone is respected here — children, families, staff and visitors. We celebrate differences and teach children to be kind, understanding and confident members of a diverse society.

We also follow the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). This means we set clear goals to help us:

  1. Prevent discrimination
  2. Make sure all children have equal opportunities
  3. Build positive relationships between all members of our community

These values shape everything we do, from our daily routines to the way we work with families. Our aim is to ensure every child has the best possible start in life.
